Dakar [Senegal]Jun 02 (ANI): Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu met with the President of Senegal, Macky Sall at the presidential palace in Dakar on Wednesday (local time).
As part of his three-nation tour, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Gabon on May 30 for his first-ever high-level bilateral official visit from May 30 to June 1, 2022.
On his last day in Gabon, Naidu visited the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) timber showrooms which have 10-12 Indian companies.
The SEZ brings together 144 companies from 19 countries operating in 22 industrial sectors, including a cluster dedicated to wood processing which brings together 84 companies. GSEZ is a PPP between ARISE IIP and the Government of Gabon.
Naidu will be in Senegal from June 1 to 3. He will meet at delegation level with Senegal’s President Macky Sall, National Assembly Speaker Moustapha Niasse and other dignitaries, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). .
“Our relationship with Senegal is also characterized by a common understanding on many issues, we had democracy and an open society and these values bind us. And this year, Senegal is the chair of the African Union and this visit takes on a utmost importance,” said Dammu Ravi, secretary. (ER) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA).
Ravi added that the main interest of Senegal in terms of trade is that the country holds huge natural resources, especially phosphate, which is of great interest to guarantee a supply of fertilizers on this side.
The Secretary (ER) further said that the Vice President will also deliver a public address at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), the largest university in Africa. After Senegal, the Vice-President will fly to Qatar, the last destination of the visit to his African countries.
Africa has huge potential for collaboration in oil and gas exploration, especially in West Africa, the MEA said. (ANI)
