Senegalese Issoufou Sani wins the West African Zone Triathlon Championship

He was followed in second by Ghanaian Foster Doevi of Ghana in 1: 14.36 hours with compatriot Ebenezer Osabutey in third place in 1: 16.45 hours.

On the women’s side, Anta Ndiaye of Senegal won the only prize in play when she clocked a time of 1: 27.21.

The junior women’s event saw Raynatou Hamadou Morou of Niger emerge as champion with Salamatu Ndiaye Gueye of Senegal and Saratou Ibrahim of Niger taking second and third positions respectively.

Senegalese Cherif Malainy Diop emerged champion of the Junior division in 1 hour, 18 minutes and 26 seconds ahead of Nigerian Harouna Hinfi (1: 18.35 hours) while Mohammed Hama finished in third position in 1: 23.18 hours.

About 50 triathletes from Ghana, Senegal and Niger participated in the swimming, cycling and running on the campus of the University of Ghana in Legon.

He served as a “farewell ambassador” to the Australian High Commissioner, Mr. Andrew Barnes, who completed his tour of duty in Ghana.
