Dozens of lawyers who attended the Liberia National Bar Association’s 2021 convention in Ganta, Nimba County, overwhelmingly elected Cllr. Sylvester Dorbor Rennie as chairman succeeded Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe whose term ends this year.

According to the report, the new president won with 218 votes, while Cllr. Jallah Barbu obtained 129 votes, Cllr. Alhaji Swaliho Sasey received 13 votes and Cllr. Abraham Sillah obtained 114 votes.

For the post of Vice-President, Cllr. Jamal Dehtho received 250 votes, while Bobby Livingstone received 215 votes. For the post of Secretary General, Bornor Varmah obtained 294 votes, while Atty. Lamii Kpargoi obtained 85 votes.

The post of treasurer was won by Cllr. Rachael Yahab-Duobah with 254 voices. She was followed by Atty. Mameita Jabateh-Sirleaf with 212 voices.

According to our correspondent at the convention, the vote ended at 04:00 GMT on November 28, 2021.

“The election was hotly contested, as almost all of the candidates who spoke to reporters during the ballot expressed their optimism about the victory,” our correspondent said.
